Young African Entrepreneurs' Leadership Styles

Running a business or managing people requires that you apply different leadership styles with your employees. The styles are placed in a 4-quadrant chart (directing, supporting, facilitating, and delegating), and used by most managers including African entrepreneurs. The challenge is on the young African entrepreneur who uses a directing style with a middle-aged employee. Given the old African culture, which supports the "blind" respect of the elders, it makes it harder on these young african bosses to align their teams. We suggest balancing the directing style with assertiveness and wisdom (educated common sense).
