Media Piracy: By Habit or By Necessity?
Media Piracy. Is it by habit or by necessity?
Media Piracy in the African community is now becoming a common thing; so common that no one notices it anymore. There are a couple of root causes in the reason why people (Africans and African businesses) get into media piracy: they do it by habit or by necessity.
What started out as a way to get media formats (DvD, CDs, VHS, Cassettes, etc) not available in local areas has now turned into a bad habit. Now, you find stores asking without shame, "Do you want the copy or the original product?" (because there is a difference in price). How sad..
We are urging all consumers to think about the impact they make to our fellow artists when they purchase copies of their hardwork. Producers should plan accordingly when there is a high demand over their supplies, and think about the cost of purchase of the end products to the consumers. Doing so will lessen the desire for people to make copies due to unavailability of these demanded products.
"Think with Vision" says Dr. William D. Hinn. The more we think that way, the better the trends get for everyone!
